no good June 14, 2010 angeloarc (watertown, ny United States) I purchased this tv 2 years ago. it has developed white lines on the top 25% of the tv. the repairman said it would be 150 to 200 dollars to fix. I have never bought a color tv that did not last at least 8 years. this is junk
ORION / Sansui will not stand behind their product April 6, 2010 Chick Daniels (Virginia Beach, VA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Less than two years ago, I bought an Orion/Sansui TV. Less than a year later, it blew up. Was under warrantee, so they had to pay for it's repair. The digital board was shot among other things. Now less than a year after that, it blew up again. Called Orion assuming that the replacement parts from less than a year ago would also be under the same 1 year warrantee, but was shocked to discover they only put a 90 day warrantee on their replacement parts. So I told the lady very nicely that she could at least pay the $35 to have my set looked at by the repair shop and she wouldn't do it. So I told her they were gonna lose one way or the other. I obviously bought a lemon, and they wouldn't stand behind their product, nor their parts. I told her she could help me out, or with my remaining 30 or 40 years on this planet I would tell everyone I know to NOT BUY ANY ELECTRONICS FROM ORION. I assured her that I would be certain to persuade enough people to not buy their product that they would be worse off than standing behind their product now. She chose this route:
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM ORION. IT IS JUNK, and they will NOT stand behind their product.
My Mother Loves it. December 30, 2009 Ivan Y. Jackson 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
My mother received the first T.V. and it was badly damaged. Dependable Resource was outstanding in preparing to send a new one, but UPS did a very bad job of arranging pickup of the damaged T.V. As soon as UPS picked up the bad T.V., my mother received a replacement in a couple of days and she was very happy with the product. Thumbs Up Dependable Resource! Thumbs Down UPS!
Color Not So Good June 4, 2008 Carola S. Thomas (Greenville, MS) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The color on this TV is horrible. There is discoloration at the top of the screen and on the left side and no amount of adjustment will make it go away.
Poor Analog Reception and Unnatural Colors January 11, 2008 Annonymous (PA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Sansui is made by Orion so my review should cover both DTV2760 TVs:
This TV is not recommended for connection to an analog cable box because the TV must convert the analog signal to digital before displaying the actual picture on the TV screen. This extra processing step results in a "lag" which creates a "slight blur" during scene changes and/or movement (e.g. people walking, cars moving, etc.). Also, black and white movies/shows appear to have a distinct green tint (e.g. low-light misadjustment) and this misadjustment also affects how colors are reproduced during a color broadcast (e.g. creating bright but unnatural colors). This misadjustment may be intended by the manufacturer to create more brilliant colors; however, for those that like a green bottle to be green, may be disappointed when the bottle color is reproduced as turquoise.
However, on the positive side it does have a digital tuner and it should be capable of receiving "over the air digital signals in the near future." A final word of caution about using a cable box with this set is that a Comcast digital cable box outputs an analog signal if you use the 75 ohm coaxial connection and/or the RCA component outputs (see my caution in the first sentence). Lastly, some websites state that this TV is HDTV ready but I will tell you it is not and it would be a waste of time (in my opinion) to try and use the "composite outputs" of your cable box to improve the picture quality (e.g., stop the blurring). For your reference, I spent 5 years in the TV repair profession before changing career paths to become a telecom hardware engineer for the past 35 years.
