Amazon.com Product Description Enjoy sparkling high-definition programming without forking over monthly digital cable or satellite fees with this Philips indoor HDTV/UHF antenna. The device is specially designed to receive HD broadcast signals from the major free networks in all primary reception areas. If the affiliate broadcasts in HD, the PHDTV1 will receive it, provided the user also owns an HD-compatible television. The highly directional antenna features a high front-to-back ratio that helps reject unwanted signal corruption, ensuring that your picture comes in clear and true. This feature is especially valuable in dense urban areas with crowded broadcast airwaves, where reflected signals can interfere with HDTV transmission. The antenna also offers a flat front gain slope that balances the reception throughout the UHF frequencies. The result is a consistently high-resolution picture regardless of which channel you choose. The PHDTV1--which also connects to PCs anywhere datacasting is available--has been endorsed by several HDTV-testing committees.

Pulls in More Channels on Digital Convertor Box for Analog TV September 4, 2010 Lynne E. (California) Coupled with a Zenith converter box, this compact antenna pulled in 42 over-the-air channels on a Panasonic analog TV-VCR combination set, and produced strong, clear signals with excellent picture quality. Expensive rabbit ears (with an extra double loop) pulled in 37 channels, and produced fluctuating signals that resulted in frequent picture breakups and frozen screens that would not clear until the converter box was unplugged and plugged in again.
Since installing the Philips antenna, there have been occasional picture breakups, but no frozen screens. The breakups probably can't be avoided, because my home is surrounded by hills.
This antenna is lightweight, but not "flimsy", as some reviewers have reported. The antenna has sturdy "teeth" (not paper-thin metal flaps that the reviews led me to expect). Once installed, the antenna can be easily rotated 180 degrees in the stand to operate in either a vertical or horizontal position, thus increasing options for capturing maximum signal strength.
The plastic stand might be considered "flimsy", because the stalk feels a bit fragile, and the weighted base isn't very heavy, so that it is easy to dislodge the stand and antenna from the top of a TV set. However, unless you, your children, or your pets frequently knock the stand off onto the floor, the antenna should function well for years to come.
Indoor TV Antenna For Digital TV January 19, 2010 M. Bolek (Chicago, IL) This antenna is easy to assemble and install. It offers a vertical or horizontal orientation choice for signal reception.
The picture quality delivered is good. Two antennas were purchased for a home without satellite or cable tv or outside antenna. The two antennas are used in a one story family home in basement and on first floor in suburbs of Chicago (> 15 miles from transmission source).
Worked great January 16, 2010 D. Golub (Cleveland, OH) This brought the HD signal to my TV better then any other one that I tried. But I still use cable for my channels.
Excellent UHF-HD Indoor Antenna December 16, 2009 D. Pittari I already had two of these in use... with an A-B switch for receiving signals from two different directions. My neighbor was having trouble receiving over-the-air HD broadcast signals so I ordered one for him. He's getting excellent reception now... no complaints.
Fits its' Purpose December 15, 2009 Tammy (Trinidad) When I got the antenna in the mail it was exactly what i wanted, super easy to assemble, even more easy to set up.
Upon installation I immediately got reception,I had to turn it a bit around the room but thats what we all do with portable antennas right.
